Caffeinated!
My first game I ever made, and I am so proud of what this project taught me.
It was during COVID times when I was hosting regular board game nights with my friends that I thought maybe I could make a game that blends all the best parts of the games we love playing into something new! We loved sabotage, choas and unpredictability in our games, being on edge until thevery end!
The idea started with some simple math, and that element of randomness. Players had to build 3 sets to win, being assigned a number to each and playing number cards until they add up to that number. The number was either 6,7 or 8. Easy math, quick game I thought! The coffee theme just came very quickly, I was likely drinking coffee at the time (not uncommon for me).
So I made a paper prototype, and started trying it out with my friends and partner. I even took it to work. I was very oblivious to how hard it can be to balance a card game correctly. The game now has a 'locking' mechanism, but before that existed, the initial games played didn't really end! People were just stealing and sabotaging with no hope in sight.
.
I continued to refine and refine, and eventually created a proper prototype. I had 2 copies printed and would bring them along to family gatherings and game nights. People loved the game, and kept asking, why don't you sell this?

After 2 years of these questions, I decided, why not sell it? I will give this a go and see where it takes me. That is how 'when kate creates' came to life, and gave me my own little corner of the internet to explore!
